Saturday was a wonderfully atmospheric evening at Carlisle Castle with Andrew Michael Hurley, the first of a series of English Heritage events to celebrate the publication of Eight Ghosts. Andrew read from his short story ‘Mr Lanyard’s Last Case’, revealed how and why the castle inspired him, and discussed the history of the ghost story. Guests were then led on an after-dark tour of the castle itself.
